Old Town is Good Town
This is one of the best parts of Bandon. Whether you are just driving through or staying for a bit one of your stops should be Old Town Bandon, it is the hub of the harbor if you will. From the best fish and chips to driftwood art, Old Town has something for everybody. Sit at the edge of the harbor and watch the boats come and go or drop a line to fish, why not even throw a crab net to see if you can catch lunch?
Speaking of fresh crab...yes you can get crab straight from the ocean at one of Old Town Bandons fine restaurants or great mom and pop shacks, which as we all know usually have the best food in town.
If you are into camping then Bandon has one of the best family campgrounds on the coast. Bullards Beach is just a stones throw from the open sandy beaches and just a walk away from the Coquille River where when the tide is right you could catch your dinner crabbing from one of the small boat docks right on the river. Being so close to the ocean this part of the river stays just salty enough (a little estuary)for great Dungeness Crab.
The weather keeps some people away but lets just say that if you stay more than three days you are pretty likely to get at least one nice day weather wise. The whole draw to this area is not the weather though, it is the beauty of the landscape and the wildlife that inhabits it. Simply put sometimes beauty can overpower weather conditions. A blustery day can be a great day on the beach, especially if you like to fly kites.
Bandon also offers great vacation house rentals. Great rates and locations over looking the ocean and just a walk away from the beach. If you are traveling with a larger family then this would be your best bet at a more enjoyable vacation. There is nothing quite like feeling like you actually live there for the time you are staying, of course that makes it even harder to leave.
